"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."

COUNSELLING

“An increasing number of people are having counselling to improve their lives – more than a quarter of people in the UK have visited a counsellor.” www.bacp.co.uk/media

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING

Would taking some time to reflect on how things are going help? Life doesn't always turn out as you dreamt or hoped. Perhaps a relationship ends, there's a career disappointment or you've lost someone or something precious. Navigating, often unexpected, change can be exhausting and confusing.

It's hard to achieve clarity with so many demands on your time. Stepping briefly out and setting aside time to stop, think, and be heard by someone who will really listen, non-judgmentally, might be the best gift you can give yourself.

I am a Person-Centred counsellor working with people from a range of ages and backgrounds. I'll help you create that space where you can be heard and hear yourself.

PERSON-CENTRED COUNSELLING

Person-Centred counselling was developed by Carl Rogers, one of the founders of the humanistic approach in psychology. Rogers believed the client, not the therapist, is the expert in their life and experience. Everyone has an innate tendency to grow and fulfil themselves, but this can be blocked or distorted by life experiences.

When you're given the opportunity to freely explore your experience in an environment with the right conditions, there's potential for change. I'll strive to create those conditions by valuing and accepting you, being open and genuinely attempting to understand your experience.

This list is not exhaustive. In counselling you can bring whatever you wish to discuss because it's your time and space. No issue is right or wrong, too big, or difficult to talk about. What's important is to feel heard and understood. The BACP has a list of issues and concerns of what therapy can help with.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation to discuss what you need. Then you can book an initial session which will help you decide if counselling is right for you. The number of sessions and what is discussed together is your choice.
